Find a favorite passage from something you have read by your author, and type it into your blog entry. Using this passage as a representative example, comment on your author’s writing style. What is distinctive about the way your author writes?

my favorite passage from the book is this little poem in the beginning of the book that says

Hey ,man, just shop until you drop
don't stop
and don't let your bubble get popped
love to rock
then roll
and make sure you be extra bold with it
whip it
crash it
wreck it
get naked
whatever's clever, brother
you know what im talkin' bout?
f**** it!
it ain't nothin' but pus*y
What i feel when i listen to this to this poem dispite the little inappropriate words is a little strenght and i don't know where it is coming from maybe the strong words make it pop but it make the poem a little more spicy andn i consider myself spicy so i like the rhyme to it.

Does your author use symbolism to any degree in his or her writing? A symbol is something that points to some larger concept beyond itself. Think of the green light in The Great Gatsby. If you don’t notice any use of symbolism, discuss any other literary or stylistic devices that your author employs.

Don't forget to include the other required elements of your post:

1.what you read since your last post, specified with titles and page numbers
2.a short plot summary of what you read in those pages
3.an analysis of theme or style in which you develop ideas for your paper

I dont see any symbolism in my book at all. the style my author tries to present in his book is a lot of slang but in a classy way. you could tell that the characters in the book are educated , by the way they think or sometimes express themselves ,but at the same time they talk like i do sometimes . Thats how i could relate to the book and this author(Omar Tyree) he really bringgs the reader into the book and when he writes he puts the great amount of detail that doesnt tell it all but definitely keeps you in suspense and wondering and wanting more!

i read two chapters.

Now that you are climbing into your second book (or the equivalent), what thematic or stylistic threads do you notice across the texts? In other words, you are ready to start forming potential thesis statements for your American Author paper.

The major theme that I am noticing in the book (What They Want ) right now is abstinence. The main character in the book is so attracted to women that it seems that he can't live without them for one night. When he encounters an old friend in Miami for a photo shoot , she begins to tell him about her being abstinent now and how its changed her life and how he should try it. He begins to wonder why its so hard for him to even consider something like that. He also wonders why everytime he thinks of abstinence its always in a negative way. When he returns for his photo shoot that conversation is stuck in his head , but it definately isnt going to change his mind.

The theme of abstinence is something that is causing a lot of haedace and reflection in the main characters life at that point. iots also causing alot of conflict withy him and his friend and also anny lady friends who just want to be friends.
